KC sources report that clashes have been taking place in the Vedeno district of the CE province for several days. The details are not known. Local residents report that gunfire was occasionally heard in the mountains, they saw helicopters shelling forests.

It is to be recalled in this context that on June 20, Russian sources reported that an operation against the Mujahideen had been carried out in the village of Marz-Mokhk in Vedeno district. Western analysts have speculated that al-Zawahiri will be a successor to bin Laden. However, according to US intelligence, the acting head of the operative headquarters of al-Qaeda has became an Egyptian Saif al-Adel.

We would like to point out in this regard that Western propaganda is often called different names of “successors” to Bin Laden, but the organization has not issued any official statement on this subject so far.

A doctor by profession, al-Zawahiri is the founder of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad (EIJ).

Georgia said Monday it had foiled an attempt to bomb a NATO office in the capital Tbilisi ordered by the ex-Soviet state’s foe Russia in what it said was the second thwarted attack in the past week.

Police said they had arrested a man carrying explosives who was ordered by a Russian security official and police in Georgia’s rebel region of South Ossetia to target the NATO liaison office.

“According to the suspect’s testimony, he was promised $ 2,000 to stage the terrorist attack,” the ministry statement said.

US authorities are preparing attacks on nuclear facilities in Pakistan, according to a Pakistani television channel DawnNews referring to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

“We have accurate information that, in order to gain dominance over Pakistan and weaken the country’s government and nation, the Americans want to sabotage Pakistan’s nuclear facilities”, the channel quoted Ahmadinejad’s words, spoken at a press conference in Tehran.

According to the Iranian president, in the event of such attack the US plans to use the UN Security Council and other international organizations for a “massive military presence in Pakistan and to weaken its national sovereignty”.

Ahmadinejad did not disclose any other details, note media outlets.

Officials of Pakistan have not responded to the words of the Iranian president so far.

Military and intelligence officials inside Pakistan, in concert with the American embassy, are withholding all official details of the investigation.

This same facility had been the subject of an armed penetration by American contractors, believed to be employed by the State Department (i.e. the CIA), in 2009.

Four Blackwater employees, armed and possessing explosives were arrested outside the Kahuta nuclear facility in 2009. The four, driving a Jeep 4×4 and possessing advanced surveillance and jamming equipment of “Israeli” manufacture, were intercepted 1.5 miles from the Kahuta nuclear facility.

The four spoke fluent Pushtu and were dressed in a manner as to resemble Taliban fighters. The order for their release, given by Minister of the Interior Rehman Malik, is an issue of considerable controversy between the civilian government in Pakistan and the powerful military.

My Muslim brothers and sisters in Pakistan,

السلامُ عليكم ورحمةُ اللهِ وبركاتُه.

I believe that every honest and sincere Muslim in Pakistan should seriously contemplate (at this moment) Pakistan's present state and expected future, because the blatant American Crusader interference in Pakistan's affairs, or to be precise, the American Crusader manipulation of Pakistan's destiny, has reached such an extent that it now poses a grave danger to Pakistan's future and very existence. It is evident that Pakistan is deeply involved in a fierce internal struggle between two forces.

The first one represents the Islamic values of (التوحيد والجهاد والأمر بالمعروف والنهي عن المنكر) and is defending the dignity and independence of the Muslim Ummah; confronting – with strength and courage – the American aggression against Pakistan and Afghanistan; and defeating the traitors who transgress against the blood, honor and dignity of the Muslims for the sake of the invading and aggressive Crusader forces. It also symbolizes the Muslim Ummah’s rejection of all forms of external aggression, occupation of its territories, theft of its resources and interference in its affairs. This force is also persisting in and carrying on the long and continuing struggle of the Muslims of the Indian subcontinent to establish Pakistan as a political entity standing as a citadel of Islam in the subcontinent: an entity ruled by Shariat as the supreme undisputed law and realizing (الولاء للمؤمنين والبراءة من الكافرين) by offering shelter and support to Muslims victimized by the aggressive anti-Islamic forces; and by abstaining from providing any form of cooperation, help or support to the infidels against Muslims. This force is the real hope for achieving the goal of establishing a true Pakistan, a goal which, after sixty years of separation from India, has yet to be achieved.

The second force comprises a clique of corrupt politicians and a junta of military officers who are fighting to remain on the American pay listby employing Pakistan’s entire military and all its resources in the American Crusade against Islam, and turning Pakistan’s military and security organizations into hunting dogs in the modern Crusade.

Dear Muslim brothers and sisters: we shouldn't run away from confronting the real facts of the current struggle between the Crusader West and Islam. We should realize that we are being targeted by a new Crusade, being waged against Muslims from Algeria to East Turkistan and from Somalia to Chechnya. And Pakistan without a doubt is at the heart of that campaign.

That campaign aims at imposing a new system of slavery and a modern form of colonialism upon the so-called Third World in general and the Muslim World in particular.

The Muslim World is seen – in the eyes of the neo-Crusaders – as the natural incubator of the real and imminent threat: the Islamic Jihad, or what the West labels Islamic terrorism, which is capable – إن شاء الله – of motivating and mobilizing the Muslim Ummah to liberate its occupied territories, reclaim its stolen resources, get rid of its corrupt, secular, and tyrannical regimes and establish its خلافة. And because of that, the Muslim World threatens and undermines Western hegemony, or what they call the world order or international legitimacy.

This is why the Western Crusade, headed by America and served by the puppet rulers of our countries with their armies, security organizations, media, judiciary and jails, aims at halting the escalating jihadi tide in the Muslim World. In Pakistan in particular, the Crusade aims at eradicating the growing jihadi nucleus in order to break up this nuclear capable country, and transform it into tiny fragments, loyal to and dependent on the neo-Crusaders.

The only hope to save Pakistan from this disastrous fate is Jihad. There is no other alternative. The current ruling class in Pakistan is lining up under the cross of the modern Crusade and competing for American bribes. Hence, the actual ruler of Pakistan is the American ambassador, who pays the bribes and issues the orders. So the only thing that class can be expected to do is to fight Muslims and Mujahideen and sacrifice Pakistan and the lives and dignity of Pakistanis in order to achieve their dirty, greedy ambitions. They have already sold their honor and religion to the Crusaders.

Meanwhile, the rest of the political institutions have either sunk in the swamp of corruption or are too helplessly crippled and paralyzed to bring about any change which might extract Pakistan from the miserable situation it is in and take it towards Islamic government. So the only force capable of bringing about the changeover to the Islamic system is the Jihadi force.

Today, the Mujahideen are resisting the Crusaders in Afghanistan and their bombing in Pakistan. Meanwhile, the Pakistan army and security organizations stab them in their backs. And in spite of all of that, the Mujahideen are winning victories and moving from one conquest to another. This is one of the good signs of victory and triumph, with Allah's help.

The scholars of Islam have unanimously agreed that if the infidel enemy enters a Muslim country, it is the duty of all of its inhabitants (and when needed, their neighbors) to mobilize for Jihad; and the Americans are today occupying Afghanistan and Pakistan, so it is the duty of every Muslim in Pakistan to rise up to fight them.

It is the individual duty of every Muslim in Pakistan to join the Mujahideen, or at the very least, to support the Jihad in Pakistan and Afghanistan with money, advice, expertise, information, communications, shelter and anything else he can offer.

It is also the duty of every noble person in Pakistan’s army and security agencies to give the orders of Allah and His Messenger precedence over the orders of the Crusaders’ slaves, and to refrain from killing, pursuing or harming in any way Muslims and Mujahideen.

Today there is a solid, cohesive Jihadi nucleus taking form in Pakistan and Afghanistan. This emerging jihadi force is resisting (by the grace of Almighty Allah) all efforts to eliminate and extinguish it. The treasonous Pakistan army has tried much, but by the grace of Allah, it has all been in vain.

The jihadi force in Pakistan and Afghanistan is not only resisting attempts to defeat it, but is also winning military victories over the treasonous Pakistan army and the Crusader coalition, and is liberating more land and applying Shariat in wide areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan in defiance of the Crusaders and the corrupt puppet regimes and secular judiciaries which continue to seek shelter under the broken wings of the American eagle.
Dear Muslim brothers and sisters: if we stand by passively without offering due support to the Mujahedeen, we shall not only contribute to the destruction of Pakistan and Afghanistan, but we shall also deserve the painful punishment of Almighty Allah. الله سبحانه وتعالىsays:

Muslim Youth Sow Mindanao Peace

Armed with knowledge and skills, a like-minded group of Filipino young Muslim intellectuals who retuned to their homeland Mindanao after pursuing education are joining hands to nurture peace and stability in the disputed Muslim-majority region.

“We could not remain apathetic to the plight of our communities," engineer Don Loong, a member of Young Moro Professional Network (YMPN), told the Philippine Star Monday, June 22.

Founded in 2000, the group joins some 200 highly-educated young Muslims who returned to their restive province of Mindanao after studying elsewhere in the country's best schools or overseas.

They are advocating peaceful means to improve the socio-economic situation of the Mindanao people. The group envisioned a network of young Muslim professionals who promote volunteerism, using their own resources, talents, education and training.

With their laptops, MP3 players and cameras, they brave the exchange of gunfire to visit evacuation camps and help Muslims in unfortunate circumstances uplift themselves.

Some of them also rolled out news and in-depth stories over the conflict and its aftermath on the Internet.

"[We want to use our own skills] to uplift the plight of the marginalized Muslim communities" in the Philippines, YMPN Membership Convener Samira Gutoc, a 34-year-old former fellow at Oxford University, says.

Mindanao, the birthplace of Islam in the Philippines, is home to more than 5 million Muslims.

The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), the country's biggest Muslim group, has been struggling for an independent state in the mineral-rich southern region for some three decades now. More than 120,000 people have been killed since the conflict erupted in the late 1960s.

Many in the youth group say they were obliged to leave Mindanao in order to receive the education they were never to gain in their war-torn homeland.
"We had no choice, but to leave," said Aleem Siddiqui Guiapal, project director of the YMPN, who first studied in the Mindanao State University and later completed his Master's Degree in Manila.

The situation worsened recently as the army has declared about 100 MILF fighters have been killed in the heavy fighting in central Mindanao since June 4.
Some YMPN members have been engaged in talk with both government officials and separatist leaders in a bid to put an end to the conflict.

1. Islamic scholars are agreed that non-believing rulers must be removed from power. “The non-believer (whether he is a non-believer to begin with or an apostate) is an object of humiliation and contempt, inferiority and lowliness.” Abu Yahya insists that Salafists have always taken the lead in preventing non-believers from assuming power in Muslim communities. Abu Yahya takes care to present the arguments made by famous religious scholars in support of overthrowing non-believers, relying heavily on the works of Hanafi scholars (the dominant school of Islamic jurisprudence in Pakistan) such as Abu Bakr al-Jassas al-Hanafi (d.961), Imam Ja’afar Al-Tahawi (d.935) and Ali ibn Sultan al-Qari (d.1605).

According to Abu Yahya, the president of Pakistan is just another in the line of non-believers, arguing, “If Muslims in Pakistan are ordered by the Shari’a to remove those non-believing and corrupt rulers, it will be achieved only through fighting their army and intelligence services that defend and protect them, strengthen their power, stand in the path of Muslims, and prevent them from fulfilling their duty.” Abu Yahya dismisses the idea that the army provides collective security to the Muslim community and should not be fought as contradictory. “How would [Shari’a] order us to disavow a non-believer’s rule over us and at the same time forbid us from that because the non-believing ruler’s group that defends him pretends to be Muslim, or is Muslim?” Abu Yahya notes the Pakistani armed forces are a volunteer force and thus their members are legitimate targets for the mujahideen.

2. The Pakistan Army rejects Islamic law. Abu Yahya says the army and intelligence services do not abide by most Islamic teachings and use all their power to prevent the implementation of Shari’a.

Abu Yahya makes numerous appeals for believers to attack NATO supply lines running through Pakistan. “[The government] opened the doors of supplies to the occupying enemy so that now more than 80 percent of its military, logistics and other supplies come through Pakistan, under the protection of the Pakistani army… These forces guarded their convoys, military bases, and secret prisons, and were used to pursue the mujahideen wherever they are- directly handing them over to Christian America to violate their honor and desecrate the book of God before their eyes to spite them.”

3. The Pakistan Army is an enemy that assaults Islam and must be fought. Abu Yahya accuses the military and the security services of Pakistan of invading homes, demolishing houses and torturing men and women. “It is needless to wait for them to launch a new assault. I want to emphasize that it is imperative for people to be compelled to fight these sects [i.e. the security services]. The fight is not limited to Waziristan, Peshawar, Suhat or other places, but extends to every speck of Pakistani territory.” Abu Yahya sees no difference between the current situation and that encountered at the time of the “apostate communist Russian occupation of Afghanistan.” With Pakistani forces clearly allying themselves with the “Christian Crusaders and their helpers,” the al-Qaeda ideologue concludes there is no law that would prevent Muslims from fighting them.

Condemning the government’s decision to allow Shari’a rule in Swat, Abu Yahya insists this is nothing less than an admission that the rest of Pakistan is not ruled by Shari’a and that the armed forces were fighting Muslims in Swat with the intention of preventing the implementation of Islamic law. Pakistan’s army “was established and founded not to implement Shari’a, as they claim, but to prevent it; not to help those seeking to implement it, but to fight them and not remove non-Islamic rulers, but to strengthen them and fight with them.”

President Barack Obama demanded the meetings as part of his complex, costly and far-reaching strategy for Afghanistan that now links success there with stability in neighboring Pakistan.

It’s a huge undertaking in distant lands where fiercely independent people have a long history of outlasting foreign militaries and refusing to change their ways. The Washington sessions represent an early test of whether a U.S. president at the start of the 21st century has sufficient leverage and power to succeed where great empires have failed.

But the first of the two days of meetings, evinced — on the surface at least — none of the drama or urgency gripping both countries, especially the potential threat to Pakistan’s weak government and fears its nuclear weapons could fall into militant hands.

Administration officials brought the promised carrots to the difficult task, assurances of significant additional aid for Pakistan and 21,000 additional U.S. troops for Afghanistan.

In return, the White House demanded that Karzai get serious about eradicating corruption and boosting a government criticized as ineffective. Zardari was questioned about his seemingly lackadaisical response to the Taliban sweep through the Swat Valley within 60 miles of Islamabad, the capital.

National Security Adviser James Jones said Zardari had “assured the president he was properly focused on it (the Taliban threat),” noting that was “very encouraging.”

Earlier, as the summit began, Clinton called the gathering a “breakthrough meeting,” telling reporters the sessions covered trade, water sharing, military training and anti-corruption drives among other issues.

“We are facing a common enemy, and we have, therefore, made common cause together,” Clinton said at a ceremonial opening, also flanked by Karzai and Zardari in her department’s ornate Benjamin Franklin Room.

The Somali parliament has voted unanimously for the implementation of Sharia which is seen as good news by many in the Muslim world - and it is - as it reflects the desire of the Somali people to live by the laws of Allah Azza wa Jalla.

However there are some issues that need to be highlighted. First, there is a fundamental problem with the procedure in which the decision was made. The law of Allah Azza wa Jalla should not be voted over. To give the people the choice whether to apply Sharia or not reflects a fundamental problem in the understanding of Tawhid.

Allah says: But no, by your Lord, they will not believe until they make you, [O Muhammad] judge concerning that over which they dispute among themselves and then find within themselves no discomfort from what you have judged and submit in [full] submission. [al Nisa 65]

So people cannot be believers until they submit to the law of Allah and accept it without any reservations. The Islamic government exists to impose Sharia rather than submit it to a vote. Therefore a government that declares that it will accept the results of a vote for Sharia, even if the results are not to implement it, is by necessity a non-Islamic government.

Second, the Sharif government is using its application of Sharia to convince the other resistance groups to lay down their arms and join the government. But from a Sharia point of view the objectives of the Jihad in Somalia have not been achieved yet and therefore the Jihad of these groups needs to carry on. Yes, the implementation of Sharia is the most important of these objectives, however, the Sharif government cannot be seen as a valid government for three main reasons. The first: Just as it applied Sharia by a vote it could dismantle Sharia by a vote. They have not implemented Sharia as a matter of principle but because it is the will of the people and therefore the Sharif government is closer to being a democratic government than it being an Islamic one. Second: The Sharif government is still allowing the existence of a foreign invading force represented in the forces of the African Union. The Jihad in Somalia should carry on until the last AU soldier leaves the country and any forces that side with the AU -including the Sharif government- become legitimate targets. And third: The Sharif government is basing its foreign relations with the outside world on a nationalistic basis rather that an Islamic one. The support it receives from the US, the EU and the UN is a reflection of it being a tool to advance the imperialistic interests of the West and to eradicate the strong Jihad movement in the country.

Therefore, even though it is good news for the ummah that Sharia will be implemented again in Somalia but we should not see this as an end to the struggle to establish an Islamic state and community and to free the country from foreign intervention and corruption.

With the explosion of Somali piracy, America is reaping what it has sown. In many ways, we have nobody to blame but ourselves for the emergence of high-seas crime threatening to disrupt important lanes of trade.

America’s support for a violent strongman during Somalia’s formative post-colonial years hindered the development of stable political institutions and severely complicated its capacity for effective self-rule and sustainable growth.

The country’s markets are also victims of foreign meddling, fatalities of the backhanded ‘charity’ which has made Western actors—and especially the U.S.—distrusted throughout the Third World. Rendered economically impotent through the misapplication of aid and assistance by the U.S. government and various NGOs, it is no surprise that Somalis have turned to brigandry for sustenance.

These actions we are now witnessing are not crimes of maliciousness or greed, but of desperation. They are sins of last resort. Modern Somalia was formed from the 1960 union of two European colonies, one British, the other Italian. What began as an exercise in constitutional democracy rapidly devolved into a dictatorship under the command of Maxamed Siyaad Barre.

Although Barre originally aligned his nation with the USSR, the relationship soured in 1977-79. Moscow eventually abandoned Somalia altogether, throwing its weight behind neighboring Ethiopia in a conflict over the disputed Ogaden region.

Reeling from the Soviet betrayal, Barre appealed to America for military assistance in the fighting of foreign wars and the suppression of internal resistance. In typical fashion, President Carter waffled, green lighting the shipment of munitions but then changing his mind at the critical moment.

Deprived of a sympathetic great power, Somali forces were run out of the Ogaden by a combined Ethiopian-Cuban-Soviet task force. Barre’s regime teetered on the verge of collapse.

However, under the consummate Cold Warrior Ronald Reagan, America suddenly renewed its interest in the Horn of Africa. Henry Kissinger met personally with Barre, and in 1981 the U.S. began supplying the dictator with arms and some $100 million per year.

In exchange, America was granted control of the deep-sea port of Berbera on the Gulf of Aden. Berbera was deemed of considerable strategic significance in countering Soviet designs in the Horn of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. It had the added advantage of overlooking a key oil route.

Fortifying his rule with American weapons and treasure, Barre managed to survive the Cold War. His nation was not so lucky.

Like most Third World pawns, Barre’s regime was fundamentally unsound, necessitating ever greater levels of financial aid. At the conclusion of the Cold War, American politicians downgraded Somalia’s importance, deeming it an unnecessary expenditure.

As American patronage waned, unrest turned to full-fledged civil war. Barre was ousted in 1991 and died of heart attack in 1995. In the intervening years, America attempted a ‘humanitarian invasion’ of Somalia. It ended in the humiliation of the ‘Black Hawk Down’ fiasco. By then, Somalia was overwhelmed by the anarchy with which its name is now synonymous.

Despite America’s loud talk of championing democracy and human rights abroad, we encouraged neither during Somalia’s crucial post-colonial years. Although our sponsorship of Barre afforded opportunities aplenty for promoting responsible governance, we instead enabled a tradition of illiberal rule-by-force.

Somalia entered the 1990s with an economy as nonexistent as its political institutions. This too was the fault of American and Western planners.

Over the years, its markets atrophied as its people grew accustomed to the foreign dole. Somalia’s agricultural industry was undermined by shipment after shipment of crops, which were sold at exaggeratedly low prices to the detriment of local farmers, who simply could not compete.

Without an organic market of indigenous producers, Somalis were forced into a cycle of dependency. How ironic: In the hopes of eliminating starvation in Somalia, we in fact eliminated the country’s ability to feed itself, making starvation all but inevitable.

The situation was exacerbated by a legacy of man-made famines and refugee crises. These humanitarian emergencies were engineered by Barre with the tacit approval of the United States, which steadily stoked a regime driving its country into the ground.

Barre was notorious for hording food aid, lavishing it upon an ever-tightening circle of ethnic supporters and withholding it from the nation’s other clans, which were increasingly at odds with his regime.

With the cessation of large scale food aid from the U.S., Barre was robbed of a major power-preserving tool. With next to no support among the populace, he was forced from office.

However, Somali clans continue to extract significant food aid from foreign agents, especially NGOs like Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere and Save the Children. Food in Somalia is explicitly political, used to reward allegiance and punish resistance. In this way, Westerners are fueling a conflict that might already have run its course without outside interference.

Earlier on, we said that America is reaping what it has sown. That statement stands, insomuch as piracy is a symptom of a land made lawless by the lasting damage of cruel, U.S. supported regime that seeded dysfunction and violence.

However, seen in another light, America is reaping what it did not sow. For more than a decade, Barre existed at the mercy of U.S. funding. He depended upon our calculated ‘kindness’ in every way.

We could have used such total reliance to seed democracy; to facilitate the development of sustainable economic structures and stable political institutions; to nourish Somali agriculture, build its industrial capacity, and protect its waters from the overpowering foreign fishing operations which have led many sea-going Somalis to piracy.

Instead, we allowed Barre to brutalize his people, never exerting the slightest pressure for reform.

Instead, we paralyzed an already weak market, giving hand-outs rather than hand-ups, and extinguishing local farming through a disastrous IMF structural adjustment program.

Americans are in a frenzy over the advance of Somali thugs upon American merchants. What they do not understand is our country’s role in undoing the very fabric of Somali society—in the creation of a power vacuum that allows criminals free rein—over the past twenty-five years.

Somalia is a case study in unintended consequences, in good intentions gone awry, in the bad karma of realpolitik.

America must learn to be highly conscientious of who it aids and how it aids them. It must accept that actions have consequences, that we are not immune to the forces of reaction. It must recognize that short-term Machiavellian tactics are no substitute for long-term developmental strategies. The latter will help produce a more just and equitable world; the former will surely come back to haunt.

Let’s Skip Gaza: Pope’s PR Blunder

So the Pope won’t be visiting Gaza on his trip to the Holy Land next month.

The Holy Father's spokesman has told the Israeli press that he’ll refrain from visiting Gaza regardless of attempts to persuade him otherwise. ‘Refrain’ is a telling choice of words: "the Pope will refrain from visiting Gaza...." It smacks of abstinence, as in abstaining from having sex. Setting foot in Gaza would be so sinful that it is forbidden.

Gaza's isolated and besieged Catholic community are none too happy judging by the reaction of their redoubtable priest Fr Manuel Mussallam, who feels the Holy Father’s trip is miss-timed. "We will ask him why he came, what he intends saying to the Christians, the Jews, the Muslims and why he isn't coming to Gaza," he said. "We'll tell him that this is not the right moment to come and visit the holy places, while Jerusalem is occupied."

Bad timing or not, if the Pope arrives in Palestine he must visit Gaza or it’ll look as if he doesn’t give a damn about the human condition in the very land where Christianity was born. He might as well hammer one more nail into Christendom’s coffin.

We've seen quite enough wishy-washy conduct by Christian leaders in the face of Israel’s defilement of the Holy Land. Last November, while the evil regime was planning its knockout blitzkrieg against Gaza's Muslims and Christians after blockading and starving them for 2 years, we in the West were treated to the spectacle of the Archbishop of Canterbury joining the Chief Rabbi on a visit to Auschwitz to show joint solidarity against extreme hostility and genocide. The Archbishop called it "a place of utter profanity" and spoke of the collective corruption and moral sickness that made the Holocaust possible.

Will these two visit Gaza in the same spirit? The scale of horror may be different but the moral sickness and corruption are the same. And this being the Holy Land the profanity is many times worse.

The Pope too has been to Auschwitz to pray for the people murdered there. "I had to come here as a duty to truth and to those that suffered," he said and talked of the Nazis' mania for destruction and domination, well aware that the same thing was being perpetuated in the Holy Land.

So why isn’t he just as keen to come and pray for those in Gaza - Muslim and Christian - who have been subjugated and cruelly slaughtered or maimed or made homeless? Has his 'duty to truth' evaporated? According to the Pope’s itinerary he'll be turning up at the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial and the Western (Wailing) Wall, and hob-nobbing with Israel’s two chief rabbis. But not with his heroic priest in Gaza.

My last visit to Gaza was in 2007. I wrote then:

Fuel is running out, so are basics like washing powder. Shattered infrastructure and food shortages mean serious public health problems. Power cuts disrupt hospitals and vital drugs cannot be kept refrigerated. Thousands look death in the face as medicare collapses. A friend emailed: “Today in Gaza we have no cement to build graves for those who die.”

The subjugation and dispossession of Christians and Muslims in the Holy Land continues. It remains a mystery to me why our largely Christian (but increasingly Muslimised) democracy in Britain slavishly supports the Middle East ethnocracy that’s doing this…

Today things are much, much worse and Gazans need to be shown that the Christian Church cares about them even if nobody else does. So where are these magnificently robed and mitred Men of God when needed?

I hear the temperature in Gaza today is 36ºC, an unimaginable torment amid the dust and rubble, the stench of untreated sewage, the lack of running water and the continual power cuts. A little too rugged for the Holy Father perhaps, and for the Archbishop and the Chief Rabbi.

Is Al-Qaeda in An Economic Turmoil?

The Washington Institute has an article entitled “The Economic Crisis: Al-Qaeda’s Response” which in my opinion, tries to look at the situation as optimistic as possible. They basically conclude that since the US is going through an Economic turmoil, so too is al-Qaa’idah. Their evidence? Two video statements from As-Sahab Media. The first from Shaykh Mustapha Abu al-Yazeed and the second from Shaykh Abu Yahya al-Libi. In both videos, they mention that Jihad of the wealth plays an important role in the battle today. Now, I will not entirely disqualify the fact that al-Qaa’idah could be facing possible economic problems due to the current Economic climate, but to suggest that al-Qaa’idah is in dire need of finances due to the world economy is very strange. I say that for the following reasons:

1. Al-Qaa’idah is not a Government; it is a mobile fighting group. So the world economy cannot possibly have a hard hit on al-Qaa’idah’s Economic infrastructure as much as it would with the Western Governments.
2. Al-Qaa’idah gets its wealth from the pockets of al-Qaa’idah fighters and leaders (such as Shaykh Usamah), Ghaneema (in Afghanistan, Algeria, Pakistan and Iraq), and donations from all types of Muslims ranging from the laymen to the wealthy and well-off businessmen.
3. It is possible that al-Qaa’idah also gets its financial support from groups that it has connections with. So in the example of Somalia, al-Shabab could be helping al-Qaa’idah financially, and out of mutual respect and brotherhood, al-Qaa’idah gives them the training, skills etc. Similarly, al-Qaa’idah works together with Taliban and I’m sure there’s a lot of wealth flowing between the two.
4. In my opinion, I think the reason for why Shaykh’s Abu Yahya and Mustapha have asked for wealth in their video releases could be due to their future operations which will need that kind of money for large scale attacks, and money to support the constant growing Jihad. Or simply it could be for a major investment for a weaponry program.

It’s out of line to suggest al-Qaa’idah will be damaged by the world’s economic situation since their movement is dynamic as opposed to the governments which are static. In addition, their movement is no longer limited to an infrastructure in the mountains of Tora Bora. Rather, they have reached a large population of the Muslim masses through their media jihad. So if al-Qaa’idah as a group dies, the ideology continues. Thus, it seems to me that the Washington Institute is trying to say, “If we go down, we’ll take you down with us.” Wishful thinking at its best.

Obama’s Useless Call on ‘Moderate’ Taliban

Since Obama declared that the United States is officially losing the war in Afghanistan (we already knew that a long time ago), this rat is now focusing on trying to get the Taliban to turn on al-Qaa’idah. Some have said that it’s entirely useless because Taliban and al-Qaa’idah are like one entity; the Arabs have lived amongst the Pashtun’s for 30+ years, they have intermarried between them, their kids grew up together, they have fought side-by-side, they pray side-by-side, and they learn the religion side-by-side. You cannot divide the number 1 any further; it’s impossible. This shameless president should just pull his troops out of Afghanistan and end their War of Terrorism, otherwise destruction is what’s awaiting them.

If Obama continues on this path of sending a surge into Afghanistan, our prediction is that this will be the final blow to the United States Empire and the American dream will finally collapse. The transfer of ’superpower’ will then be moved to Israel, most likely. Wallahu ‘Alam.

“Taliban leaders are behind the insurgency, not the so-called moderates. To put an end to the war, they have to be included in any talks, their views should be heard,” Mozhdah said.

“The Taliban are very rigid in their demands. They actually don’t want to talk unless there is some guarantee that Western forces will leave,” he said.

“They have Mullah Omar as their leader. They have to approach Mullah Omar and as we all know he is very inflexible.”

“Crisis” Will Drive Strategy Changes

“We are really out of money and we just can’t do this any more,” said Loren Thompson, defense analyst and COO of the Lexington Institute. “The world has to get used to taking care of itself.”

One might call this the transformation of America from the “indispensable nation,” in former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright’s memorable phrase, to the insolvent nation.

“With the exception of special operations forces, all of our military forces are in crisis today,” Gregory Martin, a defense consultant and retired Air Force general, said. Martin, pointing to the mix of airplanes needed to sustain America’s national goals and warfighting needs, made it clear that the country has solemn and painful choices to make as it mulls the fate of the F-22, F-35 and other combat aircraft. “If you can’t afford that [mix], then your national objectives have to be scaled back,” told the audience.

In a clear indication of just how battered and uncertain the Air Force is, Rebecca Grant, director of the Mitchell Institute and author of its new study “Combat Air Forces in Crisis,” said “we don’t really know where we are going.”

Grant, Thompson and Martin were among four analysts speaking at a seminar on air power put on by the Mitchell Institute for Air Power Studies.

Barry Watts, an analyst at the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessment and former head of PA and E, said part of the reason the US faces these grim choices — beyond the onerous financial situation — is that the nation has lost the capacity to make clear and effective strategic choices.

As proof of the poor quality of strategic policy making, Watts pointed to the recent policy suggestion from the Office of Management and Budget that the Pentagon push the tanker buy out five years and scrap the next generation bomber. To get out of this fix, “the US needs to make clear strategic choices and do them well,” he said.

But the paucity of clear thinking has left us, Grant noted, with a combat air force comprised of 80 percent legacy airplanes by 2014, an unparalleled force of aging planes. The force will slowly recover to 62 percent legacy planes by 2020. But none of the analysts were terribly upbeat about the future of the F-35, which would provide the bulk of the new planes. Grant said the country must stick to plans to build 80 aircraft a year in order to keep costs low and ensure we replace those old planes.

How bad are things for the Air Force? Thompson, in a soliloquy of program cuts, put the service’s future this way: “The bottom line is this for the Air Force. There isn’t going to be a Transformational Communications Satellite, a Joint Tactical Radio and a next generation bomber; and there will be no production of the F-22 beyond 2011.”

The Tehrik-e-Nifaaz Shariat Muhammadi, a militant group, ordered government judges not to show up for work “because we are establishing a true Islamic justice system,” said Amir Izzat Khan, a spokesman. The group is introducing Sharia law in the region as part of a government truce with Taliban fighters.

“As of today, the government courts are closed and all judicial decisions are being made by qazis,” or religious judges, Khan said in a telephone interview from Swat. The establishment of religious courts and law is part of a Feb. 16 peace deal signed by the movement’s leader, Sufi Muhammad, with the government of the North-West Frontier Province.
